CCU Ranked in Top 2% of Colleges Nationwide for the 5th Year
For the 2016-17 academic year, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) evaluated 1,100 colleges and universities nationwide to rate them on whether or not their education will prepare students for the workforce as educated citizens. Colorado Christian University is honored to be ranked in the top 2% - for the fifth year in a row.
CCU was one of only two colleges or universities in Colorado - and only 25 nationwide - that received this high grade. "ACTA has called Colorado Christian University a 'Hidden Gem' because we have the core education requirements that distinguish us, including economics, fine arts, mathematics, science, theology and western civilization," said Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Cherri Parks. "We are committed to teaching students to become well-rounded, informed and productive citizens who will change the world."
The What Will They Learn? rating is derived from researching which core curriculum courses are required as part of the general education core at each institution, rather than offered. In its 2016-2017 What Will They Learn? report, ACTA states: "a core curriculum that fails to require all, or at least most, of the seven key subjects clearly will not satisfy the demands of educated citizenship. Our standards for what constitutes an appropriate, college-level course in these areas have been guided by panels of distinguished professors and scholars."
With these core curriculum requirements, CCU is not only equipping its students with specific education requirements for their intended vocations, but is also providing them with the resources they need in other sectors of education to help prepare them as informed American citizens. "We are resolute in our commitment to prepare students for life after college - and ACTA's 'A' grade is one measurement of how we are succeeding," said Dr. Parks.
