Wil Armstrong

Trustee Spotlight

Wil Armstrong is an entrepreneur and small businessman. His business background includes start-ups, executive leadership, and active investing in the areas of technology and financial services. He has served as a board director, C-level officer, investor, and/or advisor to dozens of different businesses.

He is presently Chairman and CEO of Three Tree Capital, a privately held investment company and family office focused on venture capital, early-stage growth companies, and private equity. One of his companies was twice named one of Inc. magazine’s “500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America.” His passion is advising and building high-performance teams, leveraging great start-up ideas, and working toward their long-term sustainable success through active investment and leadership at the board level.

As part of a private equity-backed group of investors, Wil participated in the acquisition of a commercial bank in northern New Mexico and its rebranding to InBank. He serves the bank and its holding company, InBankshares (OTCQX: INBC), as a member of its Board of Directors.

He is a general partner with Guava Capital, a long-only concentrated public/private fund that invests in technology-enabled businesses with an emphasis on cash flow. He is also the managing director of Three Tree Ventures, LLC, and he holds investments in companies spanning fintech, sales tech, health and wellness technology, recreation and outdoor marketplace tech, business as mission start-ups, and numerous other venture and private equity and debt-backed investments.

As an active community member, Wil has served in many volunteer, non-profit, and political capacities. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Colorado Christian University (CCU) and is Chairman of The Armstrong Family Foundation.

Wil and his wife Kristy have three grown children and a new son-in-law, and they reside in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. The family attends Wellspring Church. Wil enjoys spending as much time as possible playing his guitar with his family and friends at his ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado.
