CCU Students Inducted into National Honor Society
Twenty students and faculty members from Colorado Christian University were inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Society (ODK), a national leadership honor society that recognizes superior scholarship, leadership, and character. The society places a special emphasis on the development of the whole person as a member of the college community and as a contributor to a better society.
The Omicron Delta Kappa "mark of distinction" is well recognized by leaders in both the academic and business worlds. The inducted CCU students and faculty members join a long list of prestigious names that have been inducted into the society over the years, such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, Bob Hope, and George Bush.
Five years ago CCU started a local chapter called the In His Service Leadership Honorary, which was intended to recognize students that excelled in leadership, scholarship, and service. The goal of the local chapter was to eventually align with the ODK; this past April they achieved that goal and were inducted in a special ceremony.
Jim McCormick, vice president for student development at CCU, believes membership in ODK will align leaders at CCU with other leaders across the nation. "This recognition brings CCU, the 300th circle member, into a class of universities that is distinguished by their excellence in scholarship and leadership and gives our students the opportunity to show that their accomplishments have been validated by a national honorary with strict guidelines and levels of accomplishment," he said. "This recognition will be valuable as they head into the work world to affect the world for God's Kingdom because of the instant recognition that ODK brings among business and organization leaders throughout the world."
