Prominent Artist Donates Ten Paintings to Colorado Christian University
Renowned painter Willa Lewis has donated ten of her original works to Colorado Christian University (CCU). The paintings -- some bold and vivid, others soft and of a more ethereal quality -- are now hanging throughout the university's main campus in Lakewood near Denver, Colorado.
With over 50 years of art study and training, Lewis has displayed at venues worldwide. Working primarily in the acrylic medium, she has painted in places such as the Danube River in Romania, the Greek Islands, Jerusalem, and the canals of Venice, Italy. Lewis currently resides in Littleton, Colorado, a community located minutes from the CCU main campus.
"I see purpose and pattern in the world and human life," stated Lewis, who in recent years has taken to producing biblically-themed paintings. "In my work as an artist, I desire to lift viewers' spirits, thoughts, and emotions, and, most of all, to bring glory to God."
Lewis' painting titled The Prodigal, inspired by the biblical narrative of the prodigal son, has gained global notice. Official reproductions of the original can be found in homes, schools, churches, and offices worldwide. Her other biblically-themed paintings have included The Ascension, Jesus Walking on the Water, The Fishermen, and Shadows from Golgotha, among others.
"Willa Lewis is an exceptionally talented artist who has an authentic love for the Lord," commented CCU President Bill Armstrong. "Her donation is an inspiration and reminder to our students, faculty, and staff of the mission and vision of this university."
