CCU Announces Dr. Kyle Greenwood as Assistant Professor of Old Testament Studies
Colorado Christian University announced today the hiring of Dr. Kyle Greenwood as Assistant Professor of Old Testament Studies. He will join the School of Theology faculty at the start of the spring 2009 semester.
Dr. Greenwood graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1991 and earned an M.Div. at Asbury Theological Seminary in 1999, followed by studies at Hebrew Union College, where he completed an M.Phil. in Hebraic and cognate studies and a Ph.D. in biblical studies (2004, 2008). His areas of teaching expertise include Old Testament survey, history, theology, and exegesis; biblical Hebrew and Aramaic; and ancient Near Eastern history, literature, languages, and religion.
Since 2005, Dr. Greenwood has taught at Indiana Wesleyan University, and in 2006 he lectured at Xavier University on Egypt and Nubia, ancient Near Eastern mythology, and biblical Hebrew. From 1999 to 2004, he directed the junior and senior high youth program at Community Fellowship Church in Lawrenceburg, Ind., and then served as the church's youth pastor beginning in 2005. Dr. Greenwood is a member of the American Oriental Society, International Association of Assyriology, National Association of Professors of Hebrew, and Society of Biblical Literature. His publications and honors speak to his rigorous academic commitment, and his ministry and professional experiences add a strong relational dimension to his teaching.
"Dr. Greenwood is a good teacher and scholar who shows great heart for students," commented CCU Associate Professor of New Testament Dr. Johann Kim. "His scholarship will be a boon to our department and University, and his expertise in Old Testament prophetic theology will be an asset to our examination of this very important portion of Scripture."
Dr. Greenwood and his wife Karen, a physician who specializes in family medicine, have three children: Stephen, 9; Jessica, 7; and Michael, 5. The family enjoys sharing many activities together, including water skiing, alpine skiing, and watching movies.
Colorado Christian University is delighted to welcome the Greenwood family to the CCU community, and we appreciate your prayers of support for them as they relocate to the Denver area and begin this new stage in their lives.
