School of Business and Leadership Hosts Mock Interview Night
Continuing to ramp up students for career success, CCU's School of Business and Leadership faculty recently hosted another installment in a series of on-campus training events, this time examining the interview processes and why hiring decisions are made. Nine dynamic business leaders from across Colorado spoke to 84 attentive students, offering their own seasoned professional reflections.
The ongoing partnership between SBL faculty and Colorado's business community provides students valuable insight in areas of career direction, skill development, and business ethics and acumen, bridging the gap between textbooks and the very real practices that make or break success in the marketplace. As a result, employers of CCU business graduates often comment on the high levels of professional dexterity and maturity with which they hit the ground running.
"Events like this serve as tools for career development, but also on a personal level," commented SBL Dean Gary Ewen, "Our goal is to prepare students to make a Christian impact in their professions, and doing so requires them being confident and marketable, but also based upon a foundation of character."
Presentations by business leaders during the evening were accompanied with breakout sessions that each led with a small group of students, in which they simulated and coached job interviews -- how to display unique assets, professional behavior, and leverage unexpected topics. Students also practiced group-interview strategies and how to close with a positive, lasting impression.
