Dick Cheney Interviewed by Radio Host Hugh Hewitt at Colorado Christian University
Colorado Christian University was honored to host Dick Cheney, 46th vice president of the United States, for a special "living room-style" interview about his best-selling new book Exceptional: Why the World Needs a Strong America. Cheney co-authored Exceptional (Simon & Schuster, 2015) with his daughter Liz Cheney, former deputy assistant secretary of state under President George W. Bush.
The crowd of over a thousand students, faculty, and friends of CCU heard from Mr. Cheney along with Hugh Hewitt, nationally syndicated radio talk show host with Salem Radio Network. Hewitt is also a lawyer, academic, and author, as well as a visiting professor of social sciences at CCU. The former vice president addressed some of the national security challenges facing America and the world, and the changing face of terrorism with the spread of ISIS.
Cheney served four Republican presidents and spent six terms in the House of Representatives from Wyoming. He served as the 46th Vice President under President George W. Bush; as Secretary of Defense under President George H.W. Bush; as White House Chief of Staff for President Gerald Ford; and Deputy Assistant to President Richard Nixon.
Cheney's appearance at the University is part of CCU's Distinguished Speaker Series; most recently, CCU hosted Dr. Ben Carson, the famed author and neurosurgeon who has surprised political observers with his ascent into the top ranks of 2016 Republican presidential contenders.
