Dr. Ben Carson Presents His Vision for America at Colorado Christian University
On Thursday, October 29, Colorado Christian University hosted Dr. Ben Carson, the famed author and neurosurgeon who has surprised political observers with his ascent into the top ranks of 2016 Republican presidential contenders. He addressed a 1,500+ capacity crowd of CCU students, faculty, and staff as well as members of the public in the Event Center at CCU's Lakewood campus.
"The University was honored to have Dr. Carson come and present his vision for America, after seeing the way his quiet authority won over Western Conservative Summit delegates in the Denver straw poll this past June," said John Andrews, director of Centennial Institute, CCU's think tank. The political newcomer again topped that straw poll in 2015 as he had done in 2014.
Dr. Carson's appearance was part of CCU's Distinguished Speaker Series, which comes the morning after GOP candidates faced off in their third debate of the year, at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Prior to the debate, NBC News interviewed CCU students about their perspectives on Dr. Carson's candidacy.
On Monday, December 7, CCU will welcome Dick Cheney, 46th Vice President of the United States, as part of our Distinguished Speaker Series. Vice President Cheney will discuss his new book, Exceptional: Why the World Needs a Strong America, and his thoughts on the challenges of 2016.
