CCU Celebrates Record-Breaking Enrollment for Fall 2016
Colorado Christian University recently appointed University President, Dr. Don Sweeting, during an exciting new phase of growth and opportunity. With record-breaking enrollment numbers, today CCU's College of Undergraduate Studies welcomes its largest incoming freshman class in the University's 100-year history - with 470 students. Total enrollment this fall is 1320 students, and comes during a time when the average Christian college has experienced an eight percent decrease in enrollment.
"This is an exciting time for CCU," says Jo Leda Martin, director of admissions. "While other colleges are seeing a decline in enrollment, CCU is seeing record numbers of enrolled students - students who are choosing to attend a university that is very different from the typical American university."
In 2015, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) ranked CCU in the top two percent of colleges nationwide-for the fourth consecutive year. CCU is one of only 25 institutions in the nation to receive this award for its core education. By raising academic standards, increasing the number of degree programs, and receiving accreditation in various degree programs, CCU has attracted some of the best and brightest students from all 50 states as well as 14 countries (including the US).
Jim McCormick, the vice president of CCU's student life and enrollment comments, "We are thankful to God, most of all, for His continued blessing and provision at CCU. This is evident in the impressive academic profile of this freshmen class," he said. "We are enrolling students with an average ACT score of over 25 and a 3.67 high school grade point average. This represents almost a five-point gain in the ACT since 2006 and almost three-tenths of a point gain in grade point average."
Martin adds, "We hold tightly to traditional values and high academic standards. Not only does a CCU education prepare students for positions of significant leadership in various disciplines, we also give students significant opportunities to serve our Lord while they are at CCU, helping them develop a lifetime habit of service to God's Kingdom."
The higher enrollment numbers speak to CCU's dedication to employing excellent professors, residence directors, and support staff who prioritize keeping students challenged, supported, and engaged - both inside and outside the classroom.
This dramatic growth has necessitated the University's campus redevelopment project - CCU's Campaign for Faith|Family|Freedom. After completing a new academic building in 2014 and a new residence building in 2015, construction is currently underway on the new Anschutz Student Center, which is scheduled to open in May 2017.
