FirstBank Funds New Scholarship for CCU's School of Business and Leadership
Colorado Christian University recently announced a new scholarship for the College of Undergraduate Studies School of Business and Leadership. The scholarship funded by FirstBank will result in $150,000 awarded to select students over the next four years.
FirstBank is a valued partner with CCU and has continued to embrace our approach to financial stability, commented Dan Cohrs, CCU's vice president of business affairs. This scholarship demonstrates FirstBank's commitment to growing the Lakewood community and Colorado Christian University.
To qualify, students must be in good standing with the University; be a Colorado resident; have financial need; be a College of Undergraduate Studies student with a major in the School of Business and Leadership; and have an average GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Scholarship recipients will be determined by CCU's Scholarship Advisory Committee, with preference given to students actively involved in the community.
FirstBank takes particular interest in training men and women to become successful in the business arena. Jennifer Vagher, executive vice president of FirstBank in Lakewood, believes that CCU is a natural fit with FirstBank. CCU and FirstBank share a unique perspective on educating students to positively affect this community with their integrity and excellence in business. The scholarship is intended to increase program diversity and strengthen service to the community.
We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of FirstBank, says Paul Eldridge, CCU's vice president of development and alumni relations. And we have no doubt that this scholarship will have a profound impact on our School of Business and Leadership students.
Just over 1,200 students are currently enrolled in CCU's undergraduate programs, and over 92% of students receive and depend on CCU scholarships and grants. This award is expected to significantly help business students, and ensure that they graduate with a solid foundation of informed business ethics and servant leadership.
