Eric Hogue New VP of Advancement
Christian philanthropy executive, former political candidate, practicing theologian, and long-tenured radio, television, and media professional Eric Hogue will join Colorado Christian University this January as the new vice president of Advancement.
“God continues to provide for our University by bringing together talented, God-honoring men and women who serve our bold mission,” said Dr. Donald W. Sweeting, president of CCU. “God has blessed CCU immensely and we are thrilled that Eric Hogue, a gifted leader and fervent servant of Christ, will join us in this endeavor.”
“This appointment at Colorado Christian University is an honor for me personally and a perfect mission-fit for me and my family,” said Hogue. “I love stewarding relationships toward biblical generosity for gospel-driven, Christ-centered higher education.”
He continued, “Today’s culture desperately needs an unwavering commitment to excellence in academic rigor, reverence for critical thinking and absolute truth, and a commitment to a biblical worldview. I am blessed and excited to join President Sweeting's leadership team in serving the great legacy of CCU, for the glory of God alone.”
For the last six years, Hogue served as chief development officer (CDO) of William Jessup University (WJU) — a Christ-centered university — in Rocklin, California. During his time at WJU, Hogue oversaw all university fundraising efforts including campaigns for annual, capital, endowment, planned gifts, alumni, parents, and athletics.
Hogue’s efforts were blessed during his time at WJU. Since 2010, WJU’s number of engaged annual donors and annual unrestricted contributions tripled. In addition, the university endowment tripled during this time. Hogue oversaw capital raises and builds for residential halls, a public/private baseball athletic complex, an organic chemistry lab, a biology lab, and classrooms.
Hogue began his media and broadcasting career at the age of 16, handling news and sports reports for WHBC Radio in Canton, Ohio. His skill set seamlessly transitioned him into sports “play-by-play” for many radio and television outlets in NE Ohio, including regional NCAA Division I football and basketball coverage for Sports Channel, Ohio and ESPN. Hogue also performed as an operations and programming consultant for various music formats including contemporary Christian, light rock, and full service radio programs and broadcast companies. Hogue was also a youth director at High Mill Christian Center and founding and senior pastor of Full Life Fellowship in Canton, Ohio.
Eric and his family relocated to Sacramento, California in January of 2000 as he began his 12-year political talk radio career. Employed by Salem Communications, he hosted several nationally syndicated talk radio shows broadcasting in New York and San Francisco. During his tenure in Sacramento, Hogue became the “lead guest host” for nationally syndicated talkers Hugh Hewitt, Roger Hedgecock, Dennis Prager, Bill Bennett, Laura Ingraham, and Michael Medved.
Over his 31-year media career, Hogue has been honored with Salem Communication’s 2004 Andy Anderson Award and the Pacific Justice Institute’s Media Award. In California, Hogue is best known for his launching of California’s ‘historic gubernatorial recall’ of Gray Davis in 2003.
Hogue holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from WJU and a Master’s in Theology (Biblical Studies) from Liberty University and Seminary. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in Higher Education from Concordia University – Portland.
Eric Hogue has been married to Tammy Hogue (Boosz) — a California credentialed (MAT) elementary teacher — for 29 years. Eric and Tammy are parents of two daughters, one son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
Hogue will officially join the CCU community in Lakewood, Colorado, on January 2, 2018. CCU retained CarterBaldwin, an executive search firm, in the nationwide search for a new vice president of advancement.
