CCU's Inaugural President's Weekend Raises $8.6 Million
The inaugural Colorado Christian University President's Weekend fundraiser raised just over $8.6 million in donations, pledges, and planned gifts. Nearly 150 friends and longtime supporters of Colorado Christian University gathered in Tucson, Arizona, for an intimate gathering of worship, fellowship, and spiritual restoration. Attendees heard from CCU President Dr. Donald W. Sweeting, members of the University faculty, distinguished alumni, and members of the Board of Trustees at various points throughout the weekend.
The gathering ranks among one of the University's single-largest fundraising efforts in its history, with numerous first-time donors making gifts to CCU. The significant fundraising outcome from the President's Weekend garnered $3.6 million in gifts and pledges, and another $5 million in planned and estate gifts.
The program theme was "ad fontes" which occurs in the Latin Vulgate of Psalm 42 and is translated as "back to the sources," a call to return to the source of life and truth, which was the original cornerstone of the historical Western university. The weekend's theme reflected CCU's vision for providing students with a solid, Christ-centered worldview, seeking to develop them intellectually, morally, and spiritually, rooting them in the gospel of Jesus Christ, equipping them to serve Christ in all kinds of vocations, and restoring leadership to a society that deeply needs it.
"Our culture needs a different kind of student with a different kind of education — one that goes back to the sources and brings that life and light to the world," Sweeting said at the event. "Our vision is to raise up a fully engaged generation of students through solid, convictional discipleship — students whose spiritual and moral resilience will be tested in times to come, yet who remain spiritually steadfast because of the education they received at CCU."
The event focused on three key University distinctives: transforming lives, imparting wisdom, and restoring leadership. Supporters responded to each of these calls, pledging monetary support of CCU's campaign for the Armstrong Center. The 60,000-sq. ft. Armstrong Center will be the academic and spiritual cornerstone of CCU's Lakewood campus which will house an expanded library, a 500-seat theater, a digital media center, classroom space, the University's first-ever sacred chapel, and the School of Music.

The 2021 President's Weekend capped off another record-breaking year for the University. On the heels of 11 consecutive years of record enrollment, Colorado Christian University again garnered national rankings across all areas of the University, and continues to be recognized as a leading institution for both its academic rigor and its continued growth by U.S. News and World Report and the Chronicle of Higher Education.
