CCU Ranks 5th in Fastest-Growing Institutions by The Chronicle of Higher Education
Student enrollment at the University triples from 2009-2019
Colorado Christian University, the flagship Christian liberal arts university in the Rocky Mountain Region, has been named the fifth-fastest-growing college or university in the nonprofit, master’s degree-granting category in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Almanac of Higher Education. It is the sixth consecutive year the University has been listed among the fastest-growing institutions of higher learning.
"Colorado Christian University is blessed to provide Christ-centered higher education to a diverse student body through our two colleges that form one university," CCU President Donald W. Sweeting said. "Our College of Adult and Graduate Studies and our College of Undergraduate Studies combined have students enrolled from each of the 50 states and from 19 countries. Our continued year-over-year growth is proof of the higher-quality, Christ-centered education we offer every day on our Lakewood campus, online, and around the world."
The Almanac ranking is based on data from fall head counts of full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students at private, nonprofit, master’s degree-granting institutions with at least 500 students. In the 10 years ending in 2019 — the most recent year for which data is available — the University experienced 202% growth in enrollment.
"Over the past decade, interest in online education has exploded, especially for adult learners," Dan Cohrs, executive vice president of CCU said. "Through CCU Online, we have been able to provide a quality, Christ-centered educational experience for thousands of adult students across the country and around the world. In addition, robust academic offerings at our residential campus continue to attract a record-breaking number of traditional undergraduate students. Our goal both online and in person is to produce competent, thoughtful graduates who impact their world with grace and truth."
CCU’s exponential enrollment growth coincides with the University’s expansion of undergraduate and graduate degrees. The College of Undergraduate Studies offers more than 100 academic programs in business, liberal arts, music, sciences, and pre-professional studies at our Lakewood residential campus. The College of Adult and Graduate Studies offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs for adult students, with over 90% available entirely online.
