First Graduating Class of Doctoral Students Honored
Jeehyun Yoon Lim made Colorado Christian University history on Saturday, May 8, 2021, as the first outstanding doctoral graduate in the 107-year history of the University. Lim and her five fellow graduates in the University’s first-ever doctoral cohort earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice, were joined by over 850 traditional undergraduate, adult undergraduate, and graduate students participating either in-person or online in CCU’s commencement ceremonies.
CCU, the flagship Christian liberal arts university in the Rocky Mountain region, honored the largest graduating class in the University’s history. Over 650 graduates registered to attend the in-person commencement ceremonies at JeffCo Stadium in Lakewood, Colorado, with another 200 participating remotely from all over the United States.
"We are beyond proud of this group of students and all they have accomplished during their time at Colorado Christian University," said CCU President Dr. Donald W. Sweeting. "We believe these strong numbers are an endorsement not only of the excellence of our academic programs, faculty and staff, and community, but also of our unique mission to provide higher learning from a Christian worldview."
Jerry B. Jenkins, former vice president for publishing and currently writer-at-large for the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, provided the commencement address. Jenkins is the author of almost 200 books, including over 62,000,000 copies of the best-selling Left Behind series. CCU awarded Jenkins the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters in May 2007. He also chairs CCU’s Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing program and developed the curriculum, which is offered through the College of Adult and Graduate Studies. He has been a member of the CCU Board of Trustees since 2018.
"This is my challenge for you as you move into this new season of life … remember that God does not hide the secret from us. We are to search the Scriptures and pray without ceasing," Jenkins said.
CCU held two commencement ceremonies, the first was for the College of Adult and Graduate Studies and the second was for the College of Undergraduate Studies. Watch the ceremonies online.
