CDE Reauthorizes CCU's Educator Licensure Programs
Colorado Christian University (CCU), the flagship Christian university in the Rocky Mountain region, proudly announces its approved reauthorization by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to offer Educator Licensure Programs through its two colleges, the College of Undergraduate Studies and the College of Adult and Graduate Studies.
Having met or exceeded all requirements set forth by Colorado statute and CDE rules and standards, CCU is fully and unconditionally reauthorized for an additional five years.
“This reauthorization holds paramount significance for CCU’s two schools of education as it serves as a validation of our commitment to meeting rigorous state-level program standards and adhering to professional criteria, guaranteeing a high level of excellence in our curricula, faculty, and overall program outcomes,” said Dr. Jeffrey Renfrow, dean and associate professor for the School of Education Professions in the CCU’s College of Adult and Graduate Studies.
Every five years, eligible institutions of higher education in the state of Colorado must undergo a deep review of programs eligible for reauthorization. For CCU, the highly collaborative process involved CDE administration and the university’s School of Education and School of Education Professions administration and stakeholders.
“For students, state authorization provides assurance that they are investing their time and resources in an educator preparation program that is approved to lead to a license to teach in Colorado public schools,” said Dr. Debora Scheffel, dean and professor of Education in for the School of Education in CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies. “Program authorization serves as a crucial element of the University’s commitment to continuous improvement and accountability, ultimately benefiting both students and the broader teaching and learning community in Colorado and beyond.”
CCU offers more than 200 academic program options in a variety of disciplines for traditional and adult students through its two colleges. The teaching license earned at CCU is often reciprocated to other states by its students who live outside of Colorado.
