CCU Named a Fastest-growing University for 9th Year
University passes 10,500 total enrollments for the first time.
Colorado Christian University, the flagship Christian liberal arts university in the Rocky Mountain Region, was recently named the ninth fastest-growing college or university in the private, nonprofit, master's degree-granting category, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education's 2024-25 Almanac of Higher Education. It is the ninth consecutive year the University has held its position as one of the fastest-growing institutions of higher learning in the U.S.
“Colorado Christian University continues to be a brand in demand,” said Eric K. Hogue, CCU’s president. “The university’s continued growth is a testament to the transformative power of Christ-centered higher education.”
In the 10 years ending in 2022 — the most recent period for which data is available — CCU experienced a 128.8% enrollment growth rate, bucking national trends of flat or declining enrollment numbers.
The fall 2024 term marks the first time in CCU’s history that the university surpassed 10,500 enrollments. CCU Online has more than 9,000 students enrolled from all 50 states and internationally over the last year. These students are choosing CCU because of the University's unwavering values, the integration of faith and learning in every course that is offered, the flexibility of online learning, and the academic excellence for which CCU is known.
“CCU Online has fully embraced technological advancements to provide top-tier education online to students around the world,” said Allison Burkhart, vice president of Enrollment, Marketing and Students Success for the College of Adult and Graduate Studies. “Online higher education empowers individuals to transform their lives, breaking down barriers of geography and time, and opening doors to endless opportunities for growth and innovation.”
Additionally, the College of Undergraduate Studies (CUS) enrolled 428 first-time freshmen and transfer students as of the university’s census date on September 12. Combined with 1,022 continuing students, the university now boasts 1,450 traditional undergraduate students on its Lakewood, Colo., campus.
CCU Online offers associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees and certificate programs specifically designed to meet the needs of adult learners, consisting of both in-person and online classroom settings. The College of Undergraduate Studies offers traditional undergraduate students degree options in business, liberal arts, music, sciences, theology, and pre-professional studies at CCU's main campus.
In total, the University serves more than 10,500 students between its two colleges and CCU Academy. The Almanac ranking is based on data from fall headcounts of full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students at private, nonprofit, master's degree-granting institutions with at least 500 students.
