Colorado Christian University Welcomes New Students
More than 1,900 new on-campus, online and dual-enrollment students join the CCU community in August 2024, bringing the university to over 10,500 students for the first time.
Colorado Christian University, the preeminent Christian university in the eight-state Rocky Mountain region, welcomed more than 1,900 new students to the CCU community for the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.
“Colorado Christian University continues to prove to be a brand in demand,” said Eric K. Hogue, CCU president. “While other colleges and universities continue to experience stagnant and even declining enrollment, CCU continues to be a sought-after leader in the market for Christ-centered higher education.”
More than 1,000 first-time adult and graduate students enrolled to begin courses this August at CCU Online. While not the first time CCU Online has enrolled more than 1,000 new students in a block, it marked the first time the college has reached over 8,500 total students attending.
The School of Counseling had over 450 new graduate students start their Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Master of Arts in School Counseling, Master of Arts in Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy or the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Substance Use Disorders this fall. The second largest graduate program was the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies.
The largest adult undergraduate program is the Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology with an emphasis in Clinical Counseling (Dual Degree). The clinical counseling courses count toward the Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology degree requirements and 12 credit hours will be applied toward CCU's Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, upon application and acceptance to the master's in Counseling program.
“CCU Online is seeing robust growth by providing flexible online education tailored to the needs of adult learners balancing demanding professional lives. Many of our students are managing full-time careers, parenting, volunteering, and other responsibilities while pursuing their degrees. Our counseling and applied psychology programs consistently attract exceptional individuals committed to addressing the escalating mental health crisis impacting communities nationwide,” said Allison Burkhart, vice president of Enrollment, Marketing and Student Success for the College of Adult and Graduate Studies.
The College of Undergraduate Studies welcomed 443 first-year and transfer students to the Lakewood campus. This was an increase of 41 first-years students over the previous year, marking the second-largest increase in first-year students since 2017. The class of 2028 continues the trend of academic excellence with the class averaging ACT scores of 28 and high school GPAs of 3.78.
“It’s exciting to welcome the class of 2028 to campus,” said Dr. Neal Anderson, vice president of Student Life and Traditional Enrollment. “The class brings a dynamic energy to the university as we welcome students from 36 states and three countries.”
Online dual enrollment has added 465 first-time CCU students this fall. In addition, CCU Academy expects at least 12,000 courses to be taken by dual credit students this academic year.
