Faith and Learning

Professor Houghton has a love for patient safety and quality care, as well as education, and hopes to instill these into the hearts of her students. She believes that educating the future nursing workforce is her calling and ministry. As such, Professor Houghton teaches the art and science of nursing from a distinctively biblical worldview. Integration of faith into learning environments, not only in the classroom but also in clinical and simulation settings, helps students understand the magnificent and miraculous creation of the human body, understanding that all people are made in the image of God and are therefore valuable. Additionally, teaching nursing from a biblical worldview teaches students to see the patients, families, and their community as their mission field and to learn to minister to them through the profession of nursing.
