Biography and Professional Achievements
Amy holds both Master of Music (2005) and Bachelor of Music (2003) degrees in Piano Performance from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Post-graduate school, Amy has continued her piano study with Brenna Berman (Certified Master Teacher of the Taubman Approach and Associate Faculty with the Golandsky Institute – June 2019 to present) and Kenneth Thompson (Executive Director of the Musical Arts Center of San Antonio – 2007 through 2011).
Her study of the piano has also included the following teachers: Mary Therese Soper (Pennsylvania), Benjamin Whitten (Pennsylvania), Anne Morton (South Carolina), and David Lehman (South Carolina).
Currently, Amy is a member of the following musical organizations: Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Colorado State Music Teachers Association (CSMTA), Boulder Area Music Teachers Association (BAMTA), and Broomfield Music Teachers Association (BMTA). Amy became a nationally certified piano teacher in 2009 through MTNA. Amy also served as an adjunct theory and piano instructor for Northwest Vista College while living in San Antonio, Texas, from August 2009 – December 2010 before moving to Colorado in 2011. Current professional roles include the following: serves on the advisory council for Colorado State Music Teachers Association for the 2022-2023 school year as chairperson for the Rising Stars state festival and competition.
Many of Amy's pre-collegiate private students have placed in various competitions, including Schmitt, Rising Stars, Yamaha, Broomfield Piano Festival, TASHCO, and Adams County Music Festival.
In addition to teaching, Amy frequently assists on her church's worship team as a pianist. She is so thankful to be blessed with an amazing husband and three beautiful children.
