Biography and Professional Achievements
Bethany Wood, Ph.D. is a theatre scholar and practitioner who currently serves as Director of Theatre and Associate Professor at CCU. Before coming to CCU, Bethany served as Director of Theater and Assistant Professor at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Her articles on theatre history have appeared in journals, such as, Ecumenica, Theatre Journal, The Edith Wharton Review, New England Theatre Journal, Studies in Musical Theatre, and Theatre History Studies. Her article “Incorporation of the Incar(nation): Dorothy L. Sayers’s The Man Born to be King" received the Barbara Reynolds Award. Bethany has performed with several theatres and production companies, including Frank Productions, Chicago Dramatists, Trap Door Theatre, and Act One Studios. Her book, Women Adapting: Bringing Three Serials of the Roaring Twenties to Stage and Screen, is available through the University of Iowa Press.
