Biography and Professional Achievements

Dr. James Dyer comes to CCU with decades of teaching experience in a wide range of environments: Christian and secular, both secondary and post-secondary. While Dr. Dyer has taught a wide variety of chemistry and math courses over his decades of teaching, his passion is as fresh as ever because of the students. “It never gets old, because the students keep it new.”

Dr. Dyer comes from a long line of teachers in his family. He tried to fight against his bloodline, but in God’s infinite wisdom (and a pinch of irony) he found his calling as a teacher. Since that day, he has been a faithful servant to that calling. “Wherever you want me to go, whenever you want me to go, and whatever you want me to do, God, send me.”

Dr. Dyer comes to us with an increased burning in his heart to make an impact in our classrooms, across our campus and in the community. He loves to involve students in creating learning opportunities for those beyond the classroom; many times, this involves colors and/or fire! Just make sure you are wearing your goggles! He looks forward to serving alongside his peers to help make what is already wonderful even better.

Dr. Dyer brings his wonderful and supportive family to us as well. He and his wife, Kim, are celebrating their 20th year of marriage. They have two amazing children, Iris and Isaac, who are now in high school.

Faith and Learning:

Faith is a lifelong journey. Dr. Dyer is grateful to have been raised in a loving and faith-filled home. Of course it had its challenges, but that is the way of life in a fallen world. Since moving to Colorado, Dr. Dyer has settled into a long-sought men’s group through his church, where Biblical studies and men encouraging and challenging each other is a weekly occurrence.

Dr. Dyer considers it an absolute privilege to work at CCU, surrounded by wonderful colleagues and students. Not a day goes by without experiencing the love and warmth of fellow believers in Christ. A generous smile. A tender heart. A sincere and deep prayer. An honest testimony. CCU is an oasis to his soul. Like fine wine, so it is said, the teaching experience becomes richer.
