Biography and Professional Achievements
Dr. Jaki Taggart also serves as Professor of Business at Pikes Peak Community College. She teaches and develops business and management courses.
Taggart is an educator, entrepreneur and women's advocate. She was born on the 4th of July and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Taggart is married to her kindergarten sweetheart, McKinley Taggart. The couple moved to Colorado Springs in 1982 after previously living in Bremerhaven, Germany. They have two children and three grandchildren. The family's favorite hobby is traveling.
Taggart teaches students and trains employees in a variety of subjects to include ethics, management, leadership, business communicating, presentation skills, diversity, team building, entrepreneurship, and business etiquette. She has developed business curriculum and taught college courses for over two decades. Taggart especially enjoys mentoring and inspiring youth to become successful business leaders.
Taggart is a women's advocate. As a doctoral candidate, Taggart conducted a three-year, qualitative research project in which she studied the traits and characteristics of successful women in the workplace. The study specifically sought to identify factors that enabled women to succeed in their employment in spite of the obstacles and inequities they all encountered. The study identified major themes that were consistent in the life experiences of the sample population. Taggart's research provided a tool to empower women, particularly minority women to enter the world of business with self-confidence, a strong will, and a drive to compete and excel.
Capitalizing on her entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help women feel good about themselves, Taggart opened a boutique in 2005. The business continues to flourish.
I verse that she enjoys is Romans 12:1-2, "Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God."
