Biography and Professional Achievements
Since 2005 Dr. Matthew Aernie has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His teaching career began at Colorado Christian University teaching biblical studies courses and Greek (2005-2008). He then spent eight years serving as the professor of biblical studies at Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham Alabama. In the Lord's providence, God has led Aernie back to CCU to serve as the associate professor for the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies degree.
His scholarly focus is primarily in New Testament studies. More specifically Aernie's interests include: Greek grammar and exegesis, biblical theology, gospel studies, the Pauline Epistles, Pauline Theology, New Testament textual criticism and New Testament hermeneutics. He is also currently an active member of the Institute for Biblical Research, The Society of Biblical Literature, and The Evangelical Theological Society.
In terms of his personal profile, Aernie had the privilege of encountering the triune God at a very basic level in his late teenage/early college years. He was nurtured by parents who desired that his life be marked by faith in the Lord. Him and his wife, Bonnie, have two children: Andrew and Emma. Aernie enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and participating in a variety of sports. They are a family that is committed to serving the Lord and enjoy investing in students.
