Why CCU?
I first heard about CCU when I was looking online for Universities that would be flexible enough for me to take courses while still working full-time. Right now I’m a project manager in IT at a Medical Care Company. I plan to start my own clothing brand, a ministry that I will run, along with my blog.
I wanted to go back to school so that I could expand my own skill set and grow my business. When I found CCU, I loved how the programs were structured. The online classes are different from those at other Universities because they are divided into 5-week block semesters.
Instead of becoming overwhelmed by multiple, longer-term classes at the same time, I was able to complete each class one-by-one. This is much more manageable for me since I’m still working full-time.
I was nervous about going back to school after not being in school for five years. But already I’ve noticed a difference in my confidence when I speak with upper management and C-level executives in my current role. And, with the support from my instructors and classmates, I’m happy to say I was able to complete my first semester at CCU with a 4.0 GPA.
When I chose CCU, I took a big leap of faith. I did not take out a loan and while my job reimburses me for up to four classes a year, it still does not cover the whole cost of tuition. However, I’ve chosen to be obedient to God’s calling on my life and he has continued to be faithful to me in that.
Something special about CCU is that the Christian perspective is integrated into every course. My instructors have helped me see how the Word of God can be applied both to academics and in the workplace.
It’s encouraged me to become more bold about my faith in the office; recently I started writing Bible verses on my whiteboard. Many of my co-workers have commented on the verses, which shows me that people in every setting are hungry for God. I feel blessed that God gave me the opportunity to be bold because it has opened the door for so many conversations about my faith.
I’m passionate about leading others to Christ. For me, blogging and photography are about relating to other people by being raw and real. I believe that when I share my stories, I’m able to connect with others who are going through similar experiences.
With the clothing brand, I plan to make shirts that beautifully showcase the Word of God. I hope that the Scripture verses won’t just be words that people wear, but words that connect with them deeply. I want to do whatever I can to bring people hope. Plus, sharing God’s Word in such a public and personal way is an easy way to share the love of Jesus wherever you go!
