Trustee Spotlight
Dr. Gerald May is retired from a career in academics at the University of New Mexico and the University of Colorado. He was a professor of Civil Engineering at UNM for 35 years, engaged in teaching and research, and he also served in various administrative positions. From 1986 to 1990, he was president of the University of New Mexico. Prior to that, he was Dean of Engineering for six years. He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Bradley University and Master of Civil Engineering and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Jerry has been active in many state and national professional associations, as well as serving on several boards, including the UNM Foundation and NM Boys and Girls Ranches, and a previous term with Colorado Christian University. He has been awarded recognition from the academic community, the engineering profession, his students and the community, and has been named as an outstanding alumnus by both Bradley University and the University of Colorado.
Jerry and his wife Mary Joyce have three children and five grandchildren. They attend Hope Evangelical Free Church. Since retirement, they have been active volunteers in international missions. They make their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
