Meet Jen
Your college years can be one of the most formative times of life. After initially pursuing a degree in nursing, the Lord used a short-term mission experience over 20 years ago to redirect me toward the field of education. Whether you are coming to CCU as a freshman or transferring in, CCU is unique in providing the support needed to help you discover God’s calling for your life!
Hometown: Brighton, Colorado
Education: Bachelor’s Degree Early Childhood Education
Favorite verse: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
Hobbies: I am an outdoor girl at heart! Anything outside – I am all in; from hiking, biking, camping, swimming, and playing tennis to observing the beauty of God’s creation while sitting lakeside or on an oceanfront breathing fresh air! I also enjoy one-on-one time with friends and family as well as traveling regularly!
Before I came to CCU: My life journey has been one of redirection, so I can relate to traditional college-age students changing their major or transferring from one college to another. I received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, and thereafter, taught all elementary ages in various formal and informal environments. I spent six years overseas working with a Christian children’s ministry infusing the gospel with Christian principles by teaching science-based, hands-on educational programs. I often parallel my journey of redirection with that of a ship. The direction of the rudder is made by the captain, but the turning of the ship doesn’t happen immediately. It is a process of trusting that the rudder is moved by the hand of the captain to make it operate effectively. God is the captain of my life, and I am continuously learning to trust his redirection even now in a different educational environment. I now am honored to have the opportunity to help you in that journey of discovering what God may be calling you to do in your life.
