Gain Experience While Attending College
Hands-on experience
Internships are an integral part of preparing our students for success after CCU. The School of Science and Engineering partners with local professionals to place students in positions to observe or actively participate in various fields.
Additionally, we have a number of students placed in degree-related internships in partnership with CCU’s Employment Management Services program. Internships include Physical Therapy Clinics, Health Clinics, and various biomedical research programs.
Faculty-led experiences
As part of our academic programs, Dr. Mark Parker leads a research program where students actively participate in an ongoing project studying the transmissibility of Varicella Zoster Virus, the causative agent of Chicken Pox and Shingles. Students are trained in basic techniques used in biomedical research labs, perform their own research and culminate the semester by presenting their data at regional scientific meeting.
In 2013, CCU’s students earned honors as the second place undergraduate research project at the Rocky Mountain Regional meeting of the American Society of Microbiology.
